Sorry to immediately inundate you with crap. I think you mentioned this in while in beta. I’m on a MT DV and under settings it’s telling me Safe Mode is on but my PHP Info is saying it’s off for Local Value and on for Master Value. Have you encountered this?
Haven’t encountered it, no. You might not have anything to worry about, as things CAN function fine while in Safe Mode. It’s for the email scheduling and cron job. As long as that cron job can be set and accessed, you’re fine.
Oh man some functionality I have always wanted. If you can release the 1.1 version with weblog:entries functionality you will have a customer many times over im me and my clients. I am currently rendering pages and pasting them into some other software to achieve something I could automate in boomerang.
Looks absolutely brilliant… can’t wait to try it. The contacts module will be a real boon too.
Couple of questions…..
Does Boomerang support attachments? Can I attach PDFs or DOCs to outgoing mails? Some clients really want the ability to add attachments. If yes, what are the limitations? If no, would this be a future feature?
I’ve had issues in the past on some servers with EE’s mailing list module not sending out confirmation emails once people subscribe to a list. If people don’t receive their confirmation email, they don’t click the link, and therefore EE doesn’t add them to the list. Is there any way around this, or is a there a more robust method of ensuring subscribe confirmation?
Cheers, Nik
I’ll make sure it’s highlighted for all to see. Boomerang actually sits on top of the Mailing List module to manage your contacts, so anything Mailing has, Boomerang does too.
Ah - not quite what I meant. I was referring to the ability to limit the amount of emails sent per hour as in “send 8 emails every 60 seconds”.
The reason is many hosts have a cap on the maximum emails you can send out per hour, often around the 500 mark. EE currently can’t do this 😊
Nice work on the module! I purchased a copy and installed it - I did notice after sending a couple of test emails that “clicked links” are not being reported. The email opens/unsubscribes are reporting fine, but no luck with the link tracking. Any suggestions?
All links are required to have at least http://, or http://www. (valid URL’s)
just www. or domain.com will not function properly. If that doesn’t seem to do the trick shoot me a PM, and I’ll send you my email address for further correspondence.

It doesn’t currently support attachments. I will go ahead and put that in the list of desired features though.
As for # 2, I believe you can turn off the confirmation emails all together on subscribe. Not sure if that would work for you? We do have a few more options that will be introduced in another module shortly. Haven’t seen that one before. Are the emails going to junk mail by chance?
Boy oh boy, this looks like one awesome humdinger of a module. It solves a nagging issue that I’ve been agitating about for three years. Have you been developing in parallel for the forthcoming (maybe we’ll even see it in 2009!) ExpressionEngine 2.0? Would there be an upgrade fee if we bought Boomerang and then needed a version for EE 2.0?

The other module has been developed in parallel, so we might see it in 2009. We don’t have the particulars for EE 2.0 worked out yet, but we are definitely porting it to the 2.0 line.

I too would be curious if the module provides a native means to throttle mailings. We just ran into a situation where a clients HOST limited outgoing emails to 1000 per hour.
Obviously not an issue if you’re only sending out a few hundred newsletters. But if you have a mailing list consisting of 10,000+ recipients this is a very real issue.
