Hopefully someone can help me out. Have a very old EE 1.7.1 site that we migrated to a new server yesterday. It was a complicated setup but finally got it all sorted out and the site pulling up…for the most part. The big issue right now is that the backend of the website is not rendering, which I think is also leading to other issues on the site. I updated the config file and everything matches the old config file except the new names of the DB’s and the password for it. The site was migrated from ispmanager to cpanel. Obviously there is something, somewhere, that needs to be updated but I am not a developer so I don’t know where to go.

Wow! I have not seen a v1 in the wild in a very long time. And I’m surprised you found a server with php old enough to work. Actually- could be a lot of suppressed php errors behind the issue. Do you know what php version site is running?

been a WHILE since I touched 1.x but in >= 2.x that’s usually a sign of a bad site_url config value

Cool. Let’s put it in a museum.

And- if you flip on browser debug- look for errors there. Might be you’re running https now and it’s CORs blocking an http url or just a bad url in general.

I’d check the inspector in your browser for 404 errors

👆 Yes, check the path to the /themes folder as it looks like the CSS files aren’t loading.

I mean- EEv1 was a TANK. But you just can’t find environments it will run on now. Usually. For good reason.

It’s often easier to go from 1 to 7 simply because there wasn’t so many add-ons available back then… (he says optimistically)

Yeah, this looks like a themes folder path issue. Those paths weren’t available as secret config values back then iirc, so you have to go to admin -> paths and fix it

@Preston Feiler click on Admin at the top, i don’t remember what the submenu items are so send a screencap and i can tell you which one it will be
