Losing it. I don’t control the server. Client needs to upgrade two sites EE from 4 to 7. Clients Host set up a new test server. 1 Click upgrades stopped at 4.3.6 on one site and 4.3.1 on another.
Running local host we can run upgrade and then update files.
Online test server running same requirements setup - nothing but errors or path issues.
Do I have to do step upgrades on this?
Haven’t done a thing yet and path on main “test.client.server” is responding with “Your system folder path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open the following file and correct this: index.php”. - it was fine the other day - Host upgraded server from php7 to 7.4+ and same with sql. Copy and paste.
Running EE_wizard on new “test.client.server” returns - Unable to load the requested file: db_form.php - it did last week. There were issues with DB that Host sorted.
We reset servers to blank - upgraded php and sql - duplicated old site and DB - tried to run wizard - see above….
I’m at a loss. Any help?
Update - So, tonight to make sure I wasn’t crazy. I made a copy of client’s site and database. Put it on my online play server. Set up the exact software/database the host is using. 2 hours later (uploads, configuration, upgrade) done. 4 -> 7.2 and 1 click to 7.3. Sent client and host screen shots and a screen recording of the process.
The host keeps saying nothing is wrong. I want to break stuff.
Anywho - weeeeee.
Hi IdeaFarm,
Thanks for posting this. Are the errors before you upgrade to the newer EE version? If so It may be PHP version errors… It might be worth checking what version of PHP your running on the server real quick.
Any chance you can post some of the errors here?
Thanks,
-Tom Jaeger
PS.. You may find if faster to post your question on slack.
Hey Tom,
I couldn’t get anything to work on their server.
Ended up running the upgrades on my server - No issues. Send them the files and database and that got one site working. 4.3 to 7.2.
Ran the second site upgrade today on my server - Upgrade from 4.3 to 7.3.5 - index.php loads - any link click returns “Error The page you requested was not found.” Verified path, verified templates, verified entries are present. Before I send them the files I wanted to make sure this kink gets worked out.
Any hints / clues?
Got help on slack. Templates duplicated when I upgraded 4.3.1 - 7.3.5 manually. Deleted extra templates. All is good now. Shout out to Russ for the quick save.
