EE should be in all honesty rather embarrassed that this basic functionality still isn’t a first-party feature, especially given how they tout the flexibility of the CMS. This is very standard stuff that anyone with a website will want to be able to do, it shouldn’t require a third party add-on. Even with the third-party options available, some of those have been broken in the new version of EE, and/or are no longer available (wcloner has a 404 on the marketplace). So the functionality isn’t achievable without continual updates to add-ons, and that work isn’t guaranteed and if it does happen it won’t be until after a given breaking update has been released, leaving users unable to clone entries without considerable work for indeterminate periods of time.
Just stumbled upon this thread… Thought I’d update it for anyone else who does.
Cloning was added to ExpressionEngine Pro over a year ago now and was rolled into version 7 in August 2022.
