is it ok not to update member total entries?

I’m using an extension that automatically creates a weblog when a user registers (to act as a fake profile). Since it’s being used for the profile I don’t want it to be counted towards the members weblog posts total so I haven’t included any code to update this.

My question is it ok to leave this out, I didn’t know if it would cause things to go out of sync or if I ever updated stats or something similar would it then add this to the member’s weblog total?
