Oops - I just tried it in IE6 without trying it in any other browsers. I’m getting errors now in all browsers and the map doesn’t show in any:

Wow fast! Thanks Mark - maps are back in all browsers and IE6 is back to illegally operating. Oh well - I’ll try hardcoding and see if that works. 😊

Let me know if hardcoding it works and we’ll be a little closer to debugging this…

Yeah I figured :(

I pulled the script into the head, and called it as a function onload. It doesn’t give the illegal operation error and redirect the browser to an error page, but the map doesn’t show. Doubt that helps but I figured I’d share…

Wait wait - I lied. I cludged it up initially. Pulling it into the head and calling it as a function onload does work. Map shows fine and the browser doesn’t crash.

It isn’t important but dragging the marker around in the publish or edit window no longer works with 1.04 (assuming it didn’t with 1.03 as well). Tried it in FF and Safari on OS X. Like I said no biggie but it was fun (I was looking forward to that little extra pizzaz when training the client on their new site). :D

Can someone go here with IE6 and tell me if it crashes your browser:

thanks 😊

Hmm well it’s crashing IE 7 and so I would assume IE 6 as well (it does for me). Mark I know you were looking at this before - any thoughts on this?

The page more or less renders, then i get an ‘operation aborted’ error and then it redirects to a “this page cannot be displayed” page. But it doesn’t crash the browser.

I can try to send screenshots if it would help. (It’ll require something of an itchy trigger finger – it all happens pretty fast – but i should be able to manage.) Just PM me an email address to send them to.

Adrienne

Actually you’re right - that’s what’s happening here. I wasn’t being accurate when I said it was crashing the browser. Thanks for looking alienne.

I’ve had to take down the maps for IE users since the site is live. I’ve got a test page up that shows the problem for IE:

Linkage

So I’ve worked around this by using the raw data, including the javascript in the header and calling it onload.

Does anyone have a link to this working using the normal geocoding tag in the template? Mark explained to me earlier basically what was happening, but I’m wondering if it has something to do with other things I’m doing on the site…
