I had hoped it would group all the weblogs starting with the same section name (like ‘Blood of Dragons’ or ‘The Citadel) together, and that it would order them alphabetically. I probably don’t quite understand just how it works, though. 😊

Alright, that is how it’s working, I just didn’t make the logic smart enough to determine a “section” as you defined it. I’ll work with it some more and see if I can get it to be a little smarter.

I’ve updated the extension to be a little smarter when grouping. It now looks for underscores or spaces to group on. 1.0.5 is up top.

Hi,

Just got a chance to try the latest version, and I still get very odd groupings (I have playd around with different values for the minimum number of characters to match on, with no real difference). However, I’d guess my style of naming weblogs isn’t all that common, so it might just be a problem for me. 😊

I don’t suppose it would be possible to have a setting where you define which groups to sort by? As in, you put in ‘text’ and each weblog that contains ‘text’ in the title is grouped together. Might be too different from how it works now, though. 😊

I think that’s possible. However, can you just post/pm your current weblogs and how they are grouping so I can see what’s not working for you. Thanks.

1.0.6 should fix all the aforementioned problems with groupings not being smart enough to recognize words. Grab it at the top of the thread.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong here (screenshot). It’s grouping two of the three with the same prefix (home) and then using the prefix name twice (home home) in the publish tab when grouping. (screenshot shows weblog info.) The two settings for the extension are set to “4” and “No.”

I am actually seeing some similar problems, with some doubled prefixes and odd groupings. I am wondering if it might not be easier to have people define groups to match on, though of course, then it becomes less automated.

Still, even with the problems, its reducing the size of my massive publish list, so I am using it. 😊

Linda and Rob, I’ve updated the extension again and it’s now grouping correctly (without doubling up names). So, let me know if this is any better, if not I may resort to user defined groupings, although I’d rather not.

Awesome Mark, nesting works for me now!

Just an fyi - I noticed that the nested weblog extension does not work with the Publish Tab Behavior setting “On Click” (admin › System Preferences › Control Panel Settings ). When the setting is set for “On Click” the publish tab performs like the hover behavoir but is not clickable.

Very odd. I downloaded the extension again, uploaded it and checked the extension manager. It now says 1.0.7. But I am not seeing any change in the grouping behaviour at all from the previous extension. I even tried disabling and reenabling, but still no difference. Could it still have old settings, somehow?

@Rob Q: Yes, I’m aware it doesn’t work with the “On Click” setting, this is because it’s implemented using pure CSS, if the demand is there for an “On Click” mode it can be added, but I always just thought of the “On Click” setting as a way to avoid the screwy JavaScript EE implemented on the menu.

@Linda: Are you seeing doubled prefixes still? What problems are you having? Could you post a screenshot of your menu and the incorrect groupings it’s creating? Something similar to this: http://www.pmachine.com/?ACT=24&fid=36&aid=1725_sazv60Bm9BeWI9uRhqvr

Alright 1.0.8, hopefully, fixes Linda’s bug and keeps all the prior bug fixes intact. I rewrote the parser once more :-D, so go get it at the top of the thread!

That did it! Brilliant, thank you so much. 😊

I wonder, btw, if it is possible to go in and hand-edit the width assigned to the submenu? I doubt most people would need it, but my weblog naming scheme has givem me some very long ones, and one or two end up wrapping onto two lines.
