[OT] Sadly (for me), I think it’s time to move on from my favorite text editor, Atom, to one that’s actively supported and integrates with a LLM. I know VS Code is a popular choice but I’m also looking at Zed. Has anyone kicked the tires on this one? TIA! <https://zed.dev>

Looks nice. I’d be hesitant to jump into a 0.x release of a product I’m using daily but they seem to be focused on all the right features. Maybe worth keeping an eye on it.

VS Code works great for my current workflow. I know a lot of smart people like PHP Storm.

Cursor is doing it for me. BBEdit is still in rotation, though.

Thanks @hopstudios! Cursor looks very interesting but may be a step too far for me, at the moment. I’d prefer to control when an LLM steps into my code but maybe I should try and let go of that… I’ll definitely keep my eye on it.

I hear ya! It’s essentially VS Code, and it does give you fine-grained control. It takes some adjusting.

@hopstudios I was reading about their pricing model… Am I right to assume if you pay for Cursor you don’t have to pay for LLM tokens separately?

I’ve tried Windsurf, Cursor and had a peek at Zed, but I’m now back to VSCode and loving it. Windsurf and cursor just feel so bloated to me and they have their own marketplaces, which was a bit of a pain.

I like it a lot. needs a few more features but for me it’s a cleaner UI than VS
