Skill for Claude Code to help with addon development?

MCP (yet to be released)… does wonders on this front..

Claude seems to have trouble looking at the ExpressionEngine docs (even if I provide specific URLs).

And Claude doesn’t seem to want to use the CLI for addon scaffolding.

Also annoying

context 7 helps a lot with docs.

I have some positive results by first reading/skimming the docs myself. Then I used the EE CLI to create the initial layout of the add-on. AI tends to get messy if you let it bootstrap the entire project even with context. Finally, I used Cursor MCP -> context7 with Sonnet 4.5 (model) or Gemini 3.

Was able to create the skeleton for an add-on using a Claude DDEV helper command (which Claude was more than happy to write for me).

So we’ve been making some solid progress on the MCP. We’ve decided to do beta, but we’re looking to keep the group pretty small initially, until we have everything ironed out. If your interested in joining the beta! 😄
