Hi
Looking at Google Search Console, and now Speedy Caching, I’ve long had an issue of EE creating phantom pages, for pages, links and templates that I’ve not used for ten or so years, and yet still get pumped out from something. I even get links like “blog/moblog_entry_moblog7/P315/” when as far as I know, I’ve never installed moblog.
I’ve been through my database countless times looking for what’s causing these links, as well as deleted any old files and folders, reinstalled EE etc, but still o luck.
Does anyone have any ideas what the issue is?
Best
Andy
Hrmm. this could happen for a few reasons.
For starters… if you visit that URL what do you actually get? Assuming 404… if that’s the case, they could be older URL’s that google indexed at some point. Would probably be a good idea either way to redirect them to the correct content.
Might be worth checking robots.txt as well.
moblog was a very old EE 1.x thing… Not sure what version of ExpressionEngine your running, but id make sure your running the most recent V7 as well.

It’s fascinating how these ancient URLs can linger like ghosts in our sites! I’ve often found that addressing them not only cleans up the backend but also enhances SEO. It’s all about balancing old content with new relevance—what strategies have worked for you all? monkey mart
