We’ve just launched our new version of the Lasting Impressions add-on. Upgraded for PHP8 + EE7. Big thanks to @Liam for helping us out with the testing. https://expressionengine.com/add-ons/lasting-impressions-pro

Cool! Does ‘visitor’ specifically mean logged in visitor? or could it be anonymous visit?

@creativearc It’s Agnostic 😊 It simply logs visits by channel entry for any website visitor so that you can create “recently viewed” list for them.

Very good add-on and an excellent dev team. Super responsive to our needs. Dovetails nicely with EE cookie consents.

So if a not-logged in user visits 5 pages, it just logs those visits by session and/or IP?

It logs last date and time each entry was visited and number of views of an entry. If you switch on the reporting feature it will record IP, session id and user agent as well and store it all in the db for reporting or export.

so for a commerce site, say a non-logged-in user browses 4 or 5 pages….we could populate a div “recently browsed items” etc. And… if they returned 5 days later might the addon/tag be able to provide the same 4 or 5 visited pages if it can stil discern a session?

In short, yes. It saves their viewing history to a cookie (you set the expiry time, default is 30 days). So as long as they don’t clear cookies the viewing history is there.

We’ve found it very robust in that way. No problem holding onto the recently view entries. Equally good as we treat category pages as entries too - so we can show full gamut of visits.

How does it play with GDPR?

Good question - we decided to set the cookie to default to “functional” in the setup. It doesn’t store personal info and is first party. It’s integrated with the EE consents module so it this setup can be changed before installation.
