File names with special characters EE6

Hi, I have an installation of EE 6.4.17 and all uploaded files that contain special characters, like ( ) brackets in the file name cannot be downloaded using a link as it comes up with an error.

Is there a way to allow these special characters somewhere in the core files?

If not, an alternative solution could be a way to change the file name upon upload. As I use a channel forms on the front end to allow users to upload their files.
