How do I update EE without the updater?

Hey, everyone!
My hosting won’t allow php’s exec function that breaks the updater how can I upgrade 6.0.6 to 6.4.x without the updater?

Haven’t had to do this in a while, but there are full instructions on Expressionengine.com. I included the URL below.
I suggest doing this on a development or local installation first to be sure everything goes well. I usually do that and then move all the files & the database to my production server.
