Update removed all files that were set for file fields

I updated from v5 to 7.4.11 (this was on a MSM site with 2 sites on it). Using assets as the file field. Everything was re-synced, file paths were set correctly, and files were in their same correct directories on the server. Everything worked fine prior to the update.

But, after the update any entry I had that had an image or file that was set within the entry using the assets file field was gone. Front-end had all missing images. I had to manually go into each and every entry and re-assign the images and files and re-save (hundreds).

Any idea what could have caused this, or any known issue about it?

Quick question- what version of Assets is it? And if it’s the latest, you should be able to turn off EE File Compatibility mode and run a Usage Sync- see” https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/control-panel/utilities/data-operations.html#update-file-usage-information

But I strongly suspect it has to do with the file compatibility mode and whether it was synced.

Hi Robin,

Yes it was the latest version of assets, and i did run all the necessary updates. I did have to update assets during the upgrade of course. Maybe something about the order of doing the updates? I don’t know what happened.

I have a local (empty) installation of EEv7 running on a local Xampp server I have a database with all the content of V2 in the database

When I connect the two I get a database error 149

How to “upgrade” so that the website shows the content from the (old) v2 database??

Any help is welcome!

thanx

For every single entry, I had to manually reassign the photos and files and then save again.
