Front-end editing issues

How Do I?

I can’t seem to get front-end editing to work on a few different sites. I’ve tried everything listed here: https://docs.expressionengine.com/v6/pro/troubleshooting.html#front-edit-links-and-dock.

All settings are enabled, I checked for console errors etc, and still can’t get it to work. Any idea what I’m missing?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

Just to confirm. What version of ExpressionEngine are you running?

It’s also worth mentioning that front end editing also required a pro license.

Thanks,

-Tom Jaeger

Hrmm…

Any caching enabled?

Also.. Are you accessing the site form the exact same URL as your are logging into the CP? (thinking presence of www or not..)

Thanks,

-Tom Jaeger

Can you verify that you’re appearing to EE as logged in when visiting the front end page you want to edit?

Yes I can - front end can tell I’m logged in.

Hrm- probably the first thing I’d do- turn on debugging- system- output and debug. And then reload and just skim through the template debug to see if anything jumps out.

I don’t have anything specific in mind that would indicate frontend editing, but sometimes that triggers an idea.

Thanks Robin - I did have a look at that, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. So weird.

Hit me in [email protected] if you can pass over access. It’s weird and looks like you’ve covered all the bases.

Oops- circling back, we just had to get the license server spotting the right site and this was resolved.
