EEConf 2024 is around the corner! EEConf 2024
When I try to update 7.2.11 to 7.3.15, the update stops saying Your MySQL version does not meet the minimum requirement of 5.6.4.
I’ve dug a bit into what this means and how I can update MySQL, but admittedly, it’s feels like it’s over my head. I have other sites on my server that are older, even a couple using (shutter) EE 2.8.1 - and I fear if I attempt to update MySQL, things are going to blow up.
Does anyone know if that’s the case? If I can update MySQL without old tech blowing up, does anyone know of a (good) detailed explanation of the process.
Tom leads the way, explaining we ultimately made the call (to require mysql 5.6.4) since that the new minimum requirement of 5.6.4 was released in February 2013.
And there was agreement- upgrading MySQL might indeed blow up really old sites, and it’s better to move the new version to a newer server. And get on php 8+ while you’re at it!
