A client site has started giving this error when logging in and the web hosting company are suggesting it is a php/CMS problem. Nothing has changed as far as the site and CMS are concerned and the hosting company say the issue isn’t space and this is potentially a conflict with php 7.3. They also say php hasn’t been updated lately, yet this problem has only started today. Any help or suggestions as to where to start trouble shooting?

“SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1021 Disk full (/tmp/mysqltmp/#sql-temptable-209e39-2a2a76-461.MAI); waiting for someone to free some space… (errno: 28 “No space left on device”): SHOW COLUMNS FROM exp_member_data”

Hrmm.. that error is looking like a space issue on the SQL server… Might be worth asking about space on the MySQL server specifically. (MySQL doesn’t always run on the same server as the web server.)

Also, what version of ExpressionEngine are you currently running?

I think it’s ExpressionEngine 3 from memory. Not being able to log in, I am not sure - will it be detailed in the file system somewhere?

Awesome… Off the top of my head.. I think EE 3 only supports up to PHP 7.2… I’d recommend upgrading if possible.

I would however start by asking about the MySQL space as that’s what the error is indicating.

I’m not 100% on it being EE 3 - could be 2? …and to confirm, the site has worked for years up to today, and the hosting company say nothing has changed in that regard.

On checking my previous posts, I was way off - this is Expression Engine version 5.3.0. Still not sure how things have broken without anything changing. The last time there were issues was as a result of a php upgrade, so might this be a similar thing? What is the suggested php version for EE 5.3.0?

So the error above, is an error saying the database doesn’t have any more space. I would confirm the DB has space still. (I do recall that the post above mentioned the main server did… Is that also running the DB?)

No admissions from the hosting company, but suddenly the site is back and working… Thanks for the help and suggestions.
