I am having a problem upgrading EE from v7.3.8 to 7.3.14.
When I click on the upgrade button the installer is stuck on “Running updates for 7.3.9”.
When I look at the browser’s network tab (tried both Firefox and Chrome) I can see that the browser initially POSTS to admin.php and then is repeatedly GETTING admin.php (and associated JS and icons) in an infinite loop. Does anyone have any ideas what’s going on here? I have tried to debug it but I’m getting nowhere with it.
First we tried adding file based logging via a ‘logs’ folder in system/user/ and config:
$config['log_date_format'] = 'Y-m-d H:i:s';
$config['log_threshold'] = '1';
Nothing showed there, nothing useful in the cached update logs.
Ultimately, it was related to the old third party Focus Labs’ master config.
The installer couldn’t update a $config[‘app_version’] in the config file (because there wasn’t one) and was going into a loop.
> Our copy of Master config uses the array variable $env_config[] and at the end merges this with $config[] …
User changed $env_config["app_version"]
to $config["app_version"]
and the updater worked!
