I’m setting up a moblog. I have questions about setting up the email. I’m on EE version 5.4, and the communication manager will email the newsletters to EE.

With that being said, setting up the email settings do I need her email address and password? Also, the docs said it uses only POP3. I looked up and saw google mail is imap, would a gmail address still work?

Yes, gmail will work.

In the gmail settings, you might have to enable imap/pop….And/or “allow less secure apps” or something like that.

So in our case, someaccount@creativearc .com is the specific email that is checked and converted to entries.

It might still “only be pop3” but I was able to make it work w/ a gmail account. You might even have to (or also need) to set up a gmail app password. (Which is separate than the password used to log in to gmail.) I think you have to enable 2fa in the google account, and they create an app password.

That is, if your password is “go_packers” to actually login to gmail, it likely isn’t what might work for the moblog password. In which case you have to set an app password.

(it’s been a couple years since i set it up so i’m foggy).

EEU article: Using Gmail SMTP to Send Emails from your Website.

Some of those steps might be out of date (thanks google) but the idea should be there.
