Add Content to <head>

Hello all, I am having a problem where when I add content in my <head> tag on a template, it is rendered inside the body.
I do have a layout with a <head> that does work properly, however I will need a unique title and description for some pages and if I keep them in my layout it will be the same on all pages.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
