Suddenly I can’t no more create or edit channel entries and channels, but I can create new templates. Strange enough, while I can edit new templates, I can’t with the old ones.

When I click “Save” to create or edit it brings me at the site home page, out of the Control panel.

A few things to check:

  1. Has there been a change in the PHP version on your server
  2. Are you running out of disk space
  3. Check your server logs to see if mod security is being triggered (you may need to ask you host to look)

Thanks Rob Allen, you were right. Mod security was on and caused the problem. Now that it is off, is there a risk?

Glad you found it. Personally I only disable the specific mod_sec rules that are being triggered, typically you may need to disable a few to get things working. Mod security uses many hundreds (thousands?) of rules so if fully disabled it reduces a fair bit of security - probably best to disable a few rules than all of them for peace of mind.
