We experienced this issue with the previous version of EE (6.0.1), where saving any template results in a redirect to the homepage without saving the change. We’ve updated EE to the latest build and there’s no change.
I suspected that a server environment change created the issue - but speaking with the host, they can’t see anything that isn’t engaged that is a necessary requirement for EE. In addition, installing and running the ExpressionEngine Server Compatibility Wizard on the server gives all green lights.
Then went to look at the .htaccess file and tried the suggestions here: https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/installation/best-practices.html#removing-indexphp-from-your-urls
So I’m stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
Hrm- I’ve seen that before when mod_security or similar doesn’t like something in the template.
Does it work if you just put ‘howdy’ or something in the template? If so? Odds are really good it’s a server security filter objecting to your post. Another way to test, spin up a standalone html form that posts to itself. Submit whatever you’re submitting in the template. If you end up on the homepage? It’s probably sever security filter. And then it’s time to ping the host.
The server team found nothing amiss, and running the Compatibility Wizard showed no issues. If troubleshooting feels like navigating a tricky slope, why not take a break? Play the online slope game to relax your mind while you figure this out!
It sounds like a tricky issue. If you’ve already checked the server environment and .htaccess settings, try reviewing ExpressionEngine’s permissions or error logs for more clues. For extra tips and insights, the Pokerogue and Pokerogue wiki might be helpful. Good luck!
It sounds like you’ve already done a thorough investigation into the issue. Have you checked for any conflicting add-ons or plugins that could be causing the problem? Sometimes, disabling all add-ons and then re-enabling them one by one can help pinpoint escape road the source of the issue.
You might check for any conflicting plugins or review the server error logs for snow road game additional clues.
That’s a really strange issue. I’ve never seen anything quite like that redirect problem after saving a template. It almost sounds like some kind of weird server configuration conflict that’s making the system act like crazy cattle, especially since the compatibility wizard is showing everything as okay. I wonder if there’s anything in the logs that might give a clue, even if it seems unrelated at first glance. Maybe a plugin conflict? Good luck figuring it out!
Third-party plugins can interfere with the saving process. Try disabling all plugins and see if the issue persists. If strands hint resolves the problem, enable them one by one to identify the culprit.
It seems like you have tried many things and still can’t solve the problem, level devil - not a troll game, maybe you need to check your server configuration or review the plugins you are using.
You’re right, the level devil can be a real head-scratcher! Before tearing your hair out, double-check your server setup and plugin compatibility. Sometimes a simple tweak unlocks everything. If you get a similar error:
Check your server error log to see if there are any relevant messages when saving the template.
Check your mod_security or firewall configuration on your server — it may be blocking certain types of data (if the template has complex code or EE tags).
Try temporarily disabling add-ons/plugins (if any) to see if there are any conflicts.
Check your .htaccess file — especially if you use rewrite rules (remove index.php, etc.). Try ragdoll archers
