I have a site running on EE5.0.1. I recently started experiencing the URL redirect spam activities where spammers are using our URL with a redirect query string.
I found this: https://github.com/ExpressionEngine/ExpressionEngine/pull/1857
Supposed to solve this issue.
So now I’m prompted to upgrade to at least 6. however it seems I can only upgrade to the latest version 7.something. Which will definitely break my plugins like Freeform Light.
Any suggestion? I’d rather not pay for the Freeform plugin just to rebuild the forms again.
You can manually upgrade by following the instructions located in the docs.
You can get the files from the github release corresponding with the version # you want.
Jared, Thanks a lot for the help. I successfully upgraded. Had to do some tweaks on certain field settings but overall it worked.
However the concern I had for the Freeform plugin turned out to be valid. I must update it since it is broken at the moment. I’m now trying to figure this out. I don’t mind the 99 dollars but I find it ridiculous the amount of times I have re-built the same contact forms in my life.
Just for the record: With my license I was able to download the upgrade version of the Freeform. The upgrade was a bit odd. I simply added the freeform_next folders next to the freeform folders. This somehow prompted ExpressionEngine to give me the upgrade button in the Add-on section to upgrade Freeform light 1.7 to Freeform 3.0.4. So it is working now perfectly.
