relate members to channels - Solved

I need to relate somehow members to channels, (as an example to keep track of which entry relates to which user, an entry not necessary created by that user, in my case) but members custom fields are limited to few field types not including relationship, and vice versa there is no possibility to choose the users channel in the relationship field type. I suppose this is done by design. Do I have to build a user channel by myself and ignore the user management bundled with EE?
