Update File Usage not working

How Do I?

Hello. I just updated to 7.1.3 from 6.5.x and tried to run Update File Usage but it does not seem to be working. The Update button gets disabled after clicking it and then the screen just sits there with no progress. I’ve tried it a couple of times but get the same results. The only add-on currently installed is Freeform. Any help is appreciated.

Two thoughts here:

  1. Updating might take time, so if you have a lot of files or fields, the initialization could take a while. At this time the progress bar is at zero, so just make sure you waited for some time

  2. If it’s really stuck, there’s probably unrecognized error in AJAX requests. Try starting it with Network tab in browser developer tools open and watch for ajax requests going out after you click the button. If one of those fails, examine payload and response

Thanks for the reply! It looks like there is an error in the AJAX requests. I’ve attached a couple of screenshots of the errors. How can I correct this?

Can you post the error? And maybe also the contents of Payload tab. It is likely that you’ve hit a bug

Does this help?

No, I’d like to see the actual response. When you click on the failed request in network tab, you should see it

Is this any more helpful?

Yeah, and can you show what’s on Response tab here?

It shows failed to load response data.

Um, ok - here’s the trick that helps me most of the time.

Before pressing the button, make sure you have the developer tools and Network button open. After you press the button, immediately click on the new request in Network tab. Then you should be able to access the response for this, or subsequent requests

Tried it. It seems to keep running the same request over and over in the left window (see attached). Clicking any of them gives the same message you see in the response window, but then clicking the red one gives me the “Failed to load response data” message.

I don’t think I’ll be able to help unless I see the actual error, sorry about that :(

Or maybe you see something unusual in other areas related to file management (or the system in general), that might help too
