Does using :limit="" on a single variable disable XHTML formatting

How Do I?

This seems to be the result I am seeing. I have text areas using XHTML and when I add the :limit=”” parameter to the variable it no longer outputs with paragraph (or any other) tags. As a result I am losing paragraph formatting.

Is this the expected outcome of using :limit=”“?
