Multi-Site Sharing of Channels

How Do I?

The title likely says it all. We have a client with two divisions which we can keep separate with multi-site. We would then like to share the Staff channel and data between the two sites, not unlike template partials. Is this possible?

Channels aren’t completely shared between sites like say- fields are. A channel is assigned to a single site. Which- you want to keep them seperate in the cp, right? But you can have two channels named ‘news’ - one on each site. And you can combine the OUTPUT on the frontend. Use the site parameter on the channel entry or channel search tags and it will combine the content of the two ‘news’ channels. But in the cp, div a posts to one bucket and div b posts to a different bucket- both named ‘news’.

Does that make sense?

Thanks Robin. That makes sense. We were attempting to share the staff channel / relationship field in Site A where the appropriate staff would be added via the entry screen, with Site B for the same purpose. Trying not to re-key the staff data which would be the same on both sites. Looks like a re-think on our side.

Yes, it is possible to share the Employee channel and data between two sites using the multisite functionality. With multiple sites, you can create separate geometry dash parts or sites in your customer environment. Each site can have its own set of channels and data.

By utilizing the multisite functionality, it is really feasible to transfer the Employee channel and associated data across two locations. You can build distinct components or sites in your client’s environment using numerous sites. Different channels and data sets can be configured for each site.
