Hi 😊 It seems after installing EE, that Forum default theme is still in year 2007? Or have I missed something here 😊 Thx in advance for reply!

Hi Riverboy,

I wish I could say you missed something, but the truth is that it’s in dire need of some TLC (Tender Loving Care) currently. We’ve largely stayed focused on other aspects of ExpressionEngine the last 2 years or so (version 6, pro, etc) since we’ve taken the helm.

That being said. We do have an in progress update to the forum module (in fact it’s running this forum) that moves away from themes and gives you custom template tags to use instead.

We unfortunately don’t currently have a timeline on it’s completion.

Thanks, and I’m sorry! I wish I had a better update for you.

Hi, Nothing to be sorry there. Thanks for the heads up on this one. Sounds very good to get out of those old templates and move into a more flexible way to use and work with discussion board add-on.

And if you need any dummy testers in-between before all comes alive, Im interested 😊 (Pardon if my english is bad - not my native language).

That sounds great. I rather have EE tags to use into a custom design instead having to maintain a different template system. I think both the forum and wiki still use the old legacy template system. Moving that the regular templates would be very welcome.
