How Do I?

I’ve created my channel, and set the preview url {url_title}

I created a new entry, but preview is 404.

Any help is appreciated.

Check that your preview template exists and that the entry isn’t closed or has an entry date in the future.

The preview template would be created in admin, or do I have to create the file in the groups directory? Sorry for the N00B questions, I used to work in EE a long while ago, and v6 is different than what I remember from earlier versions when licenses were not free.

It needs to be a regular template in the system just like the template you would use on the front end. Inside the Channel settings there is a “Preview URL” option you need toi fill out with the template path:

Preview URL Template path or route to use for previewing. Use {url_title} or {entry_id} for single-entry templates. i.e. blog/entry/{url_title}

Once you have that set correctly then your preview should work.

and no worries about the question, I’ve been using EE for years too and its a very big jump from v2 to v4/5/6
