I’d like to allow guests to post comments but I’m getting an error when submitting the comment while not logged in.

The following errors were encountered
You are not allowed to post comments

I’ve copied the comment submission form out of the docs and can submit comments when logged in as the system admin.

I’m using EE 5.2.6 with comments enabled globally and enabled in blog channel.

In my blog channel settings: Allow comments = enabled Allow comments default = enabled Require membership = off Require Email = enabled Moderate comments = enabled …

Are there further settings I need to configure to allow non members to submit comments?

I was able to figure it out. There is a config setting for the guest member. Enabling Submit comments fixes my issue. Maybe adding a note to the comments docs would help.

By default, guest comments subway surfers are held until the end of the week. To allow non-members to submit comments, you can post a comment with a special “allow guest” option. If a member replies to your post with their email address, you will be able to see their name and their comment.
