I downloaded Eclipse plain Java version and now I realize that I need of Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers distribution. I’m new in Eclipse world and I would to know if it is possible (and how) to install Java EE plugins via Eclipse.

Are you using Eclipse with ExpressionEngine? IOW: are you sure you posted to the right forums? 😉

Hummm should be the EE tag that brought him in this EE forum.

So the future of EE would be Java?

Nope, he’s talking about Eclipse Enterprise Edition.

    Hi Derek,

I tried to make a joke, but it’s missed.

I never joke about Java! 😜

But seriously, I have successfully avoided even installing a JRE on my machines for 4+ years.

Java is interesting but it’s very complex, not very flexible (compared to PHP) and heavy.

I prefer using Node.js, I read that in PHP 8 JIT will be implemented.

In many foruns, books PHP is critiqued, as JavaScript 10 years ago (now JS is the King)….

Yeah, not sure if JIT compiling will benefit PHP applications much since it’s not a continuously running process, but it’s good that they keep investigating improvements. That characteristic of PHP though makes it an ideal language for the web, where you typically don’t want things from one request to affect another.
