This is an interesting, if distressing problem. I’m a super admin for chatbots.org, and over the past week I’ve been able to use the forums when logged into my account. When I try to view the forums in any way, I get directed to the 404 page, regardless of the URL. I can clear my cache/cookies and view the site, so long as I’m logged in, but the moment I do log in, I get the same problem all over again. I’ve been in email contact with other members, one of which is also a super admin, and it seems that I’m the only person experiencing this problem. I’ve tried it in all of the major browsers, and on other computers (even one I connect to via VPN in another state), with exactly the same results. If I try log directly to the EE control panel without first clearing my cache/cookies I get the same problem. Earlier today I was able to clear the browser and log into the control panel, and was at that point able to access everything without issue, and I was able to create a new user this way, also with admin privileges, and was able to login with the new credentials and post, no worries. Now that, too, will not work (I now get a 500 error page). This issue has our entire admin/dev team a bit perplexed, and I’m not quite sure where to look to address this. Since I cannot currently access our current EE version, I’m not quite certain now much help I could expect, but perhaps someone else may have run across this and can provide a hint in the right direction. Sadly, I do not have access to the host’s error logs, so I’m limited in what I, personally, can do, but I’ll email the link to this thread to the other members of the admin/dev team so that they can possibly provide more information. thanks for your time.
Sounds strange for sure, Dave. Off the top of my head all that comes to mind is that your user got banned somehow, either in the banned group, or perhaps in IP banning. Other than that, some conditional in your template or add-on extension that could be in error. If you put in a support ticket and we’d be happy to look for you.
Ok, I’m not certain what the team did (if anything), but it seems that this issue is not presenting itself anymore, right now. I guess all I can do at this point is monitor things to see if it happens again. I was able to access the site’s error logs, but nothing in those logs seemed relevant to my issue (no matching timestamps could be found, and most errors were outside the EE folder hierarchy). If anything changes and I have more information I’ll probably start a new thread, and reference this one.
