"author_id":"Invalid Selection"

I’m getting an error when trying to register through Visitor on EE 3 and I’m completely stumped. I have reviewed all permissions related to member groups, channel form, etc. and I can’t resolve it. This form is using JSON and the return of submitting is:

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this needs to be resolved yesterday (as always, dev time to finish this upgrade has run out 😛 ).
I’m not sure what Visitor is or how it works, but this JSON looks like our Channel Form response. “Invalid Selection” typically comes from the option fieldtypes and happens when you try to select an option it doesn’t have. In this case, looks like the author_id dropdown.
I don’t have any experience using Visitor, either, and I’m assuming you’ve contacted DevDemon/Vector? I’d double check that the Channel prefs allow guest entries on Channel Form, and the default author assigned is in a member group that has permissions to create new entries in that channel.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. That was not set correctly and apparently was not enforced on EE 2 or something in the context of Zoo Visitor adding a channel entry for the user. Or something.
