Looks like you have an extension installed that is not compatible with v3. To get past the error, you can disable extensions, but you will need to address the addon, either updating it to be compatible with v3 or uninstalling it prior to upgrading if a compatible version is not available.
Hi Derek,
Thanks for the answer. I did roll back, remove all extensions, and try again, and the installer still fails. I have to say it seems a nightmare upgrade. I have clients with complex sites with a load of extensions that aren’t compatible so they’re now between a rock and a hard place in terms of upgrading.
Hi Calan, what is the new error? The above error could not happen without an active extension.
I’m sorry that you have so many incompatible extensions, but sometimes it’s the nature of software that you have to break things in order to make them better. It’s not typical of ExpressionEngine updates, but v2 to v3 was a big deal and major change in architecture. Some add-ons are very easy to convert, however, and we think that a year and a half is a very generous timeframe. Drop us a line in support if you’d like us to help you take stock and form a gameplan for modernizing those installs.
