Missing fieldtype nightmare

How Do I?

I upgraded from 2.11 to 3.2.1. In the earlier version I used P&T’s Fieldpack. I now get the following error message whenever I attempt to use the Channel Entries tag:

Unable to load requested field type file: ft.fieldpack_dropdown.php.

Confirm the fieldtype file is located in the /system/user/addons/ directory

I have tried many things. I have eliminated the field type everywhere, all P&T fieldtypes. I have placed the ft.fieldpack_dropdown.php as directed hoping that would fool the system. I have rebuilt my templates from scratch. But the Channels tag is awfully darn critical to the whole product to throw such an error.

Is there a workaround? I dreaded doing this upgrade, and my dread seems to be being rewarded.

This happened to me as well (with another add-on). Most likely you’ll have to find the rows for the P&T fieldpack in exp_fieldtypes. You may also want to clean up exp_actions and exp_extensions.

I think the trick with upgrading is to disable the plugin before the upgrade.

Already tried that. Fieldpack is such a popular addon I find it hard to believe others haven’t encountered this. If plugins are better disabled before the upgrade, it would be wise to add that information to the upgrade instructions. My site is now totally broken.

Keep in mind this is only my experience, not an official EllisLab solution. I think that the fields still exist in your exp_channel_fields.
