I get it, you want to transition to a one-click update in the future.
That said, we’ve been keeping our template files above the public web root now for years and this new location of the site templates has added 2 more directories we have to click through every time we need to get to the templates with our text editors.
So for us it use to be:
/home/account_ID/templates/default_site/template_groups/template
And now its:
/home/account_ID/system/user/templates/default_site/template_groups/template
Could you please restore the Server path to site’s templates setting in EE v3 under URL and Path Settings.
Thanks for your consideration.
I only update an install of EE about twice a year (on average) yet I edit an EE template 50 to 100+ times a day (give or take).
So it makes sense to the team at EllisLab that it’s better for the end user if you save me a couple of minutes twice a year vs. tens of thousands of additional clicks to get to the templates.
Right now, from my perspective over here, both the path to the templates on the server now require additional clicks to get to, and the templates within the CP now also require additional clicks to get to. From this customer’s perspective, these changes don’t appear to be an improvement at all.
Any chance there will be an override added?
https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/general/system_configuration_overrides.html
Then I could just hack all our 100 or so config files and leave the template folders where we have them.
If there is an override, I didn’t spot it when I scanned the list.
Thanks for listening.
