Still working in EE2 – clients do not want to pay for the update since they’ve already paid big bucks for EE2 (just a few months ago). So, I need some of the add-ons for ExpressionEngine 2 – where do I find them? The links in devot:ee, such as the one for List Maker, do not work (devot:ee is woefully outdated, sorry to say). The link in devot:ee for List Maker is http://expressionengine.com/downloads/details/list_maker/ and for the entire EE2 Add-On pack is here: http://expressionengine.com/public_beta/downloads/ – but they go nowhere. Why is it so hard to find the add-ons I need? Is there a repository somewhere? Am I just not seeing a link? Help!!
Found them here: https://github.com/EllisLab – glad for that, but why do I have to work so hard to find this stuff?
Ah- yes, 2.x documentation had links to the plugins under the ‘Add-ons’ main section. In 3.x docs, the only link is on the plugin page.
I’m not sure we want to list them like in v2 docs, but I’ll see about getting a link to github on that main page. It does make sense to me, especially given add-ons on github may not be limited to plugins.
I found the plugins I needed – but they are not working. I have EE v2.10.1 - Build Date: 20150501 I put the allow_eecode folder in the third-party folder as instructed (and list-maker) and neither are showing up in the plugin list and if I try to use it the template shows me that it’s not installed.
Also, I’m have big-time problems with using some of the plugins. For GWcode CatMenu and Channel Images, when I try to use them I get error messages such as this:
Strict Standards: Redefining already defined constructor for class Gwcode_catmenu in /var/www/vhosts/darienlt.org/httpdocs/darienwild/expressionengine/third_party/gwcode_catmenu/pi.gwcode_catmenu.php on line 39
A PHP Error was encountered

Message: Non-static method Gwcode_catmenu::usage() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context
Filename: gwcode_catmenu/pi.gwcode_catmenu.php
Line Number: 19Is there something wrong with my installation? Help!!!
Let’s get allow_eecode working.
So in system/expressionengine/third_party/allow_eecode/ you should have a file named pi.allow_eecode.php. I’m thinking maybe the folders are off a bit.
Also note- make sure when you download the files, you’re on ‘Branch 2’ if you need the 2.x compatible ones.
I just did a test and allow eecode does show up in my plugin manager, so I’m not spotting any red flags there.
Okay, I reinstalled it. I got an error message the first two times I tried to access it (Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘fpublic’ (T_STRING), expecting function (T_FUNCTION) in /var/www/vhosts/darienlt.org/httpdocs/darienwild/expressionengine/third_party/allow_eecode/pi.allow_eecode.php on line 117) but now it’s fine (it showed up in the list!) Don’t know if it’s because I submitted and urgent ticket request and it’s being fixed or what the heck is going on, but it’s working now, so thanks. (Now on to Channel Images, which I really need!)
Many thanks!
😉 Yep- it was showing for me when I went in there for that ticket- but throwing this error. Those should all be ok now.
Hit me up in the ticket for the images one. While we don’t officially support third party add-ons, we should be able to figure out what’s failing and hopefully why.
Anyway- catch you in the ticket!
