If you have a valid license in your account associated with your email. the EL folks have generally been happy to provide a legacy version of the software.

I am curious however if there is any reason you can’t use 2.10.1. I never found the update from 2.8 to 2.10 broke anything.

I have a licence for 2.9.2 but my server does not support this version, so i think ee 2.8.1 will work

I’ll let one of the EllisLab team confirm for sure, but there should not have been any server requirements change in any 2.x release.

I searched and found out that this version 2.8.1 uses PHP 5.2, while Expression engine 2.9.2 uses PHP 5.3

It may not be possible but I would highly recommend looking into getting your server up to PHP 5.4 at the very least. 5.2 (and 5.3) is end of life and no longer supported. 5.4 technically is too, but depending on your server linux distro, security updates may be backported to 5.4 (such as with Cent OS 7/yum right now). PHP 5.5 is really the sweet spot for stability and security right now if you ask me.
