I am very disappointed that the 2.x forums were archived. There are still a lot of people in the community using EE 2.x! EE 3.0 is barely out. You have to give people time to move over to the new 3.0. I have not moved over because my add-on, extensions are not compatible yet. Was this an over sight to archive the 2.x forums? Or is Ellis lab not run by a bunch of suits, who know nothing about community?
Jose
Hi Jose B,
Archiving the old forums was not at all about making EE 2 conversation and questions go away. In fact, the old forums are archived but visible so that we can all browse through and see if there are any conversations and answers from times of old that may help us.
The reorganization of the forums was about simplifying and making it easier to understand and more accessible. It did happen to coincide closely with the launch of EE 3, and there’s sure to be a lot of EE 3 conversation happening in the forums, but you are certainly welcome to ask questions and talk about EE 2. I’m personally actively working in both EE 2 and EE 3 versions of the software. I’m hoping to do my first actual site build with EE 3 beginning next year. I’m sure we’ll all have questions and conversation about EE 2 for a while to come.
So, post away about EE 2.
Yep, TJ and Jeremy are correct, all ExpressionEngine questions are welcome here, we don’t see any reason to separate the discussions. The archiving was more due to thread age, relevance, and the lack of moderation back then. When in doubt, just post the full version number you’re working with. Thanks!
