Hi Has anyone heard anything from Aaron in causingeffect about the status of his plugins and EE3. His twitter went quite a year ago and he hasn’t been answering support requests on his plugin support forums recently , hes not on the ee slack page and he doesn’t seem to communicate anywhere else online.
I use CE-cache,CE-string and CE-image a lot and i know lots of other people do to and its worrying do think that they might not get upgraded to EE3 , leaving a lot of developers in a world of pain.
I can’t speak to the status of Causing Effect, but I can offer you some alternatives that I think are just as good or better to the three add-ons you mentioned:
Stash/Mustash for static caching.
Streeng for string manipulations (can’t say I’ve ever used CE String though so can’t compare).
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for image manipulations on the fly.
I hope that helps.
Just got this good news on one of the CE support forums
I’m alive and well! I have been swamped and have not been able to block off enough time to upgrade all of the add-ons yet. I imagine CE String will already work with EE3, but I have not tested it yet. I’ll get it tested and/or upgraded this week.
Glad to hear Aaron’s still around, thanks for sharing that aquicksharp! If you do not need some of the discrete features of CE Cache, it’s worth noting that ExpressionEngine supports Memcached and Redis out of the box with great results, especially as concurrency increases.
