Hi all,

I have just received notice that one of our servers running EE 2.5.3 is being upgraded to PHP 5.5.

I’ve had a look for server requirements for 2.5.3 but can’t find any absolute info.

Can any body tell me whether I’m likely to face issues with the new version of PHP?

Many thanks

Danny

You shouldn’t have any issues running PHP 5.5. I’ve got an install of EE 2.3.x running on PHP 5.5 just fine.

The issue you may have is that when a service provider upgrades PHP, they may not automatically update your php.ini file. I had that happen to me – I discovered the PHP upgrade when the site broke. I traced it back to PHP 5.5 still using an older php.ini file. So I had to manually replace the file, and update its settings (like PHP memory, etc.), and all was well. I’d grab a copy of your current php.ini file to have an archive of your custom settings (if any) in case they do swap in a new default file.
