My two cents too: At my company, we’ve hosted with Nexcess, Linode, Rackspace CloudSites (and CloudServers), MediaTemple and ArcusTech.
Our favorite is Rackspace CloudSites. Agreed the control panel is not the best, but have found support overall the best of all them. We’ve been working with them for about 7 years though, and I think with any host you get used to their settings and how they do things, so at this point they fit into our process the best.
I also highly recommend Nexcess followed by ArcusTech. Nexcess has always done a good job for us. ArcusTech too, but the access is a bit harder to get to everything as easily for databases/config etc.
(We found Linode had VERY super speedy sites, but we prefer not to mess with server management/configuration, and really just want the servers ready to go.)
My most important advice is to host with a company that specializes in hosting – avoid a company that does other things as their main focus (e.g. domain registration).
I hardly think that their would be any hosting service provider that does not Expression Engine. AS EE has become such a famous framework. However, if you are looking for the best hosting then there is only one hosting server that I can think of and it’s Amazon hosting. As, It is also ranked globally as one of the best hosting provider.
I will recommend managed digitalOcean website hosting which is powered by Cloudways. It is a very good option for hosting, if you want to enjoy an ultimate hosting experience without the glitches of the server from the management side. It is also a very economical option for hosting although comparatively higher then the conventional digitalOcean server but with Cloudways you don’t need any sys-admin which is a big relief. Managed DigitalOcean package starts from 10$/month.
