404 When Creating or Updating Channel Field

How Do I?

I’ve searched the forum and followed all suggestions already given that I could find and still no success.

When updating or creating a new channel field I am redirected to my site’s 404 page and the channel field is not saved. This was not an issue when I created the site a few years ago. I’m wondering if a minor, auto update created the problem.

My production site is running (2.7.0) and having the problem. I cloned to my dev server, also have the problem and then upgraded to (2.10.1) and still have the problem.

I have tried creating a new channel. The channel creates fine but I still cannot create a channel field.

Please assist and thank you in advance!

I’m experiencing the same thing. Running EE 2.10.1 as well. It started happening for me after migrating a site to a new web host (Liquid Web). I’m running a lot of sites on 2.10.1 on Liquid Web with no problem.

After POSTing to /admin.php?/cp/admin_content/field_edit&S=…, you should be redirected to /admin.php?/cp/admin_content/field_management&group;_id=…&S=…, but this isn’t happening.

Are you using the Pages module, by any chance, doubleberry?

I’m trying to fix this now and am seeing better behavior after removing the pages module. Haven’t done full testing yet.

Scratch that, not related to pages module. I did notice I could successfully post when I uninstalled the Grid module on my dev server. However I need that really bad for my site and can’t even think about uninstalling on my production server since it would wipe out all of my useful data.

Finding my issue is related to mod_security rules. Getting it sorted out now.

Ahhhh, mod_security. This has come up before. Can you share what steps you took in regard to mod_security? Was there is a keyword is didn’t like in the POST’ed data?

I had to do a lot of back and forth with my VPS hosting company. They were checking the logs and making rule updates. I was having multiple issues but one obvious one was posting iframe or script tags. It worked when I built the site but they must have updated the rules since then. Regardless they were able to keep modifying the rules until it would post.
