Submit Channel Form Title with Checkbox

How Do I?

I have a channel called “Articles” that has the default title field and one custom field for all the content.

I’d like a user to be able to see a page of all the article titles with checkboxes next to each one.

If they check off boxes next to the title/titles and submit those entries are stored in a separate channel.

I guess my main question, is how can I show already entered channel entries as checkbox options that can then be submitted as titles in their own new channel?

Totally confused here.

Can you describe at a higher level what you are trying to do?

Making a content library for clients. Content for them to use in their blogs, enewsletters, etc.

We’ll be creating this custom content and posting in a library, so-to-speak, for them to review and select to use. They’ll then be able to select up to a certain amount of articles per month to use in their blogs, enewsletters, etc.

It’s basically a prototype at this point but the idea is this:

1) I set up a client in a particular member group and register them. 2) They go to a login page where upon entering their email and password, they’re sent to their own special template. This template has their logo on it, then a listing of all the article titles we have available for them. They’ll be able to click through to view the entire article. 3) They can then select the articles they want to use by selecting a checkbox next to each article name then submitting. Those submissions are stored in a separate channel specific for that client and also an email is sent to notify me of their selections.

We’re going to have 3 different levels of access. The different levels are basically the amount of articles each client can select to use for each month. As of now we’ll just be monitoring them manually just to see what type of buy-in we can get on our content.

The reason I want to have a separate client channel for them to submit their choices is so we have records of what they chose for the month.

Hopefully that makes sense. It’s a little hard to explain I suppose.

So you are using EE to host different blogs per user?

If that’s the case you’ll need to shoot [email protected] an email to see if what you are doing falls within the EE licensing.

In the past they have not allowed EE to be used as a “hosted blogging platform” - but I’m not an official rep for them to say if what you are doing is or isn’t that.

Functionally I think you’d have to look at building a custom extension for the Control Panel. EE doesn’t have any native way of doing what you describe.

Not at all like that. These clients have their own sites, own blogs hosted elsewhere. This is a just a site that they can preview the type of content we’re selling them.

So a logged in user can’t submit content to a channel with a checkbox selection?

No, they can’t grab pre-existing content and re-submit/copy it into their own channel. That’s just an edge case that EE isn’t setup to to.

But you might be able to use something like Solspace Favorites to allow them to select existing content and save it into a list of “favorites”.

That Solspace Favorites definitely looks like it may be what I need. Thanks for the help and direction!
