Communicate tool works but no Member/Forum activation emails received

How Do I?

Have done a fresh install of EE 2.9.3 with Forums 3.1.18 (both latest).

Tested with PHPmail and SMTP. Sending a mail though Tools > Communicate works in both cases.

Registering a new forum user (and trying the ‘resend activation’ within the CP) claims to have worked but no activation emails arrive.

Anything I should be looking out for? :/

Thanks

You need to have the ““Self-Activation via Email” option enabled for those emails to be sent. Double check that this is turned on. Also, are you running an MSM site, using Zoo Visitor, or anything else not in core EE?

Yeah I have the Self verification option on, a few colleagues have registered and saw the ‘email gas been sent ’ msg and all their accounts are pending.

The install is fresh core install with the forum add-on, no other third party additions at all.

:/

Ah, is it actually ExpressionEngine Core or do you mean that in the generic sense? The Core version of EE doesn’t include the Member module, which would prevent this from working. This seems unlikely as Forum is also not supported for Core, but I don’t think there is anything to prevent you from purchasing the Forum module separate from a full EE license so I want to make sure that’s not the case.

Sorry yes the generic sense, it’s a full commercial EE install, with forum module add-on.

We are also having this issue over here.

Any luck finding a solution?

Hey,

I did get things working but only by creating a mailbox for the domain within the hosting package my client had already setup (in this case GoDaddy). I then used the smtp settings from this mailbox in the EE email settings page and it all worked.

Hope this might help :/
