Publish Timeout (large volume of categories)

Hi all,

I’m building a website with EE which needs to have sections for all the towns in the UK.

I thought I could do this with category groups and categories so created 142 category groups for the UK Counties. Then I created 43000 towns as categories assigned across these category groups. I also have 142 channels which match the category group names (one for each county), each assigned 1 of the 142 category groups.

The problem I’m running into is that when I go to ‘Publish’ in the admin panel and try to publish to any of the channels it times out. I’ve tried giving php 1GB in my server config but I still have the same issue? Can you recommend any way to get round this issue?
