Template views 404

How Do I?

Hi,

I’ve been away from ExpressionEngine for a while so maybe I’m out of touch with new developments, but I’ve updated my installation to the latest and things don’t seem to be working.

  1. Under Design > Templates there is a new item called nav_template_route_manager.

Now this looks weird, its underscored for one, but I don’t understand it’s purpose.

  1. I have a template group called Projects and within that template group a template called view. Now under Access I select ‘Select All’ and get this error:

{"error":" Unable to load the requested language file: language\/english\/template_router_lang.php<\/p>"}

I’ve never had that file, so not sure why it’s throwing an error. By that I mean I’ve worked ok on this in the past, but now it’s doing this.

and it also says ‘If you selected ‘no’ in any of the above’ articles/index - and when I try and change it to projects/index and save, it always defaults back to articles/index

Finally, when I click to view the template it gives me the 404 error.

I appreciate this is a lot of stuff here, but I’m kind of hoping it’s all tied into one issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your upgrade isn’t complete. I’d try re-uploading all the files.

Yeah giving it another go. Not sure what happened as I followed the instruction closely. Trying again.

Ok, so I re-updated. The earlier errors don’t exist, but I still get a 404 for my views page.

Do you have error reporting turned on?

Yes, but I get a Not Found page.

Just for that template?

If you copy it to a different group does it load? Or rename it?

All of them. When I go to the root of my site I see the index page fine, when I click the view link in Template Management it goes to 404.

This is the reply I get.

Not Found

The requested URL /projects/view was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

One other thing. I have my templates folder in system/expressionengine/templates

Is that not right?

Your templates can be just about anywhere on the server but you have to tell EE where they are stored. It’s in global template prefs.

Yeah I’ve set that ok. I’m at a loss to what’s going wrong.

success!!!

Now all I need now is some plutonium to get the flux capacitor working and a straight road to get up to 88mph. Damn I feel stupid for wasting most of my afternoon on this. Such a rookie mistake.

Thanks Boyink!
