I am running an EE site on Media TempleI, and I’m having some performance concerns. I was curious if anyone had any best practice tips for optimizing a site on Media Temple.
When I installed the site, I was running PHP v5.3.29 FastCGI, and page loads were only using around 3MB of memory. Unfortunately, I was getting errors in the admin panel, and I had to turn off FastCGI. Now, memory usage for each page has gone through the roof.
Is there a way to get EE to play nice with FastCGI turned on, or does anyone have advice for better performance on Media Temple’s grid hosting?
I’m running EE on a MT (dv) with FastCGI no problems. Unless it’s the control panel itself that’s running slow, I suggest you analyse your template memory usage, and see if they can be made more efficient. This add-on https://devot-ee.com/add-ons/ee-debug-toolbar gives some great stats on memory usage.
Thanks Toby. I’ll check out that add-on.
I think my issue may be specific to grid (gs) hosting. MediaTemple has acknowledged this issue here: https://kb.mediatemple.net/questions/1890/How+do+I+enable+FastCGI?#gs
It’s good to know that FastCGI seems to work better on their DV plans.
Have either of you tried running EE V5 on MediaTemple Grid service? Having some major trouble even installing it. The error it gives me is ‘No Such Property: ‘db’ on EllisLab\ExpressionEngine\Legacy\Facade’. Any light either of you can shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
