Is it just me or has EE fallen apart?

How Do I?

I’m flabbergasted by the number of bugs I’m finding in EE. Given, we’re trying to do something with it beyond just a standard blog, but I’ve built entire web apps on the system successfully (circa EE1.4 to EE2.1). The major problems I’m getting seem to be around use of the new exp:channel:form tag, but between date tags not parsing, file tags not parsing, custom fields disappearing from the Publish view (even when they’re turned on in the layout settings)… I’m not sure EE is even stable enough with 2.9.2 to use on client sites anymore!

Looks like support is all paid now, so perhaps this is part of the strategy.

I’d love to be proven wrong, and will continue to hack away tonight to strip down our install of everything and get to the root of the problem.

Ty,

I’m not sure why you’re seeing those bugs, plenty of our users have Channel Forms with all of those things (custom fields, date tags, and file fields) and they work just fine. I’ve also not heard of custom fields just disappearing from the Publish view. Maybe you have an extension or two that’s modifying the publish page and/or Channel Forms?

And adding bugs to force customers into our paid support is not part of the strategy. Paid support allows us to offer a much better level of support than forum support ever allowed us. If you haven’t yet, I’d recommend trying out the free three month trial we offer so we can try and figure out what problems you’re having with this install. Once we’re done you can cancel the trial at any time and you won’t be charged a dime.

Wes

Oops, I see you have a support plan, but for anyone else who comes across this if haven’t tried it yet, I do recommend trying out our support. We try very hard to solve your problems as quickly as possible, and we’re not creating problems just so we can charge you to solve them later.

@Ty Martin

Your account seems more anecdotal than anything. Is your experience based on a single project or multiple installation occurrences and echoed by other users? I can’t say I’ve noticed many examples of similar issues either here, or on the Stack Exchange site, to indicate a trend or common bug. Does the issue persist if you disable all addons?
