Hi!
I guess this message is for James Mathias.
I’ve seen a lot of people on SE using Relationship fields for things that could be better handled by categories because they don’t fell categories “match” what they need for content.
We already need a more “tag” way to apply categories, but maybe it would not be enough.
If they we could personalize the entry submission form in a way that could make the categories looks more likely fields and to allow a category group to have an different menu item, the developers could used it more.
I don’t gave to much thought on that. It’s just something that crossed my way again (and again) and it could be useful for you to know about, guys.
Bye!
I’m sorry about the delay, James!
This time, I don’t have nothing specific to suggest. You probably know that we need a better way to use categories, something more like tags. I wrote to you because maybe you don’t know that a lot of developers are using relationships instead of categories because they don’t feel it flexible enough from a publish content point of view.
Thank you so much for your attention.
Hi Robson,
Could you explain why you feel that categories should be replaced by something like tags, so I can understand better the need/problem to be solved, I’d appreciate it.
In my understanding, the use of one over the other is preference.
Additionally, how does using relationships to replace categories accomplish the functionality of traditional tags?
Or am I completely misunderstanding your request?
Thanks!
